Term 1 Learning Leadership

We have been learning all about What makes a good leader.

We identified that good leaders show 6 main character traits. These are:

Integrity Trustworthy Resilient Goal focused Active thinker Motivational

The leadership trait that I think I show the most is resilient because even though I don't have enough people to help me with PALS, I still look to the bright side and think of something else.

The leadership trait I would most like to develop is motivational because I need to motivate people to do what I want them to do.

Something NEW I have learned about leadership is what leadership is: It is a skill of being able to motivate a team/individual to achieve their goal.

The SOLO level that I reached during this unit of learning is extended abstract because I can evaluate ideas really well.

My next step in learning about leadership is to apply everything that I have learned about leadership to my own leadership roles.

Librarian Excellence #2

At lunch on Monday me and Alex had librarian. We finally got to issue books and return them. The library was pretty stuffed. Near the end of lunch, I helped pick the books up that was lying on the floor and picked up a little rubbish. I also helped sort the books out and make sure they're in place.

I showed active thinking by cleaning up the library and making sure it is tidy..

I showed that I can be trustworthy by not putting books in the wrong place and doing what I'm supposed to be doing.

Must Do Excellence #2

Monday 11 was the kauri assembly. We sang our school waiata with pride and the choir performed on stage. I was in the choir performance and it was very nerve racking. I didn't think we were ready. 

I was empathising by thinking of how the rest of the choir would feel like in our first performance.

I was demonstrating active thinking by focusing on the song and the lyrics.

My Exposition

WALT: Follow the writing process to write an exposition.
This is my conclusion in my exposition.

Taylor Swift and Edmund Hillary are both pretty great. In my opinion, Edmund Hillary is better. He is more than a mountaineer and is really kind hearted in all the things he has done. Edmund has been a great leader by helping other people and is a phenomenal mountaineer. What he has done is amazing. People wouldn't be there without him. He has inspired me a lot to keep trying no matter what and to never give up (Resilience). I state my opinion, Sir Edmund is better for the many reasons i have above.

Librarian Excellence #1

On Monday At lunchtime, me and Alex had librarian Duty. Firstly we helped each other put the books away from the tray. There were a lot of books to put back, but me and Alex did it.

I was collaboration by getting the job done and not mucking around.

I was very goal focused by focussing on what I have to do and concentrating on my part of the job.

Must Do Excellence #1

At lunch, I played on the playground with with Alex and Wariesha and we did some flips and tricks.

We went on the blue bars and flipped of them.

I show resilence by not giving up when trying a new skill and to keep trying to get it right. E.g. Flips.

I was very motivational to Alex and Wariesha because I convinced them to try the flip and I was there to make sure they were safe. I also demonstrated trustworthy because Alex trusted me to catch her if she needed.

PE- Striking and Fielding

WALT: Apply Striking and Fielding activities in a range of sports and activities.

My Strengths

The striking strategies I was able to effectively demonstrate during the games we played were to keep my eyes on the ball and stand side on.

The throwing and catching strategies I was able to effectively demonstrate during the games we played were keeping my eyes on the ball so I know where it's going.

My Next Steps

To improve my striking of a ball I need a good stance and hold the bat firmly because that way I can bat more further and better than before.

To Improve my catching and fielding I need to use soft hands to catch so the ball won't bounce out of my hands.

The game that I enjoyed the most was Rounders because it was an active game that kept me moving and a great game to practise my striking and fielding skills.
