Term 2 Novel Study

This term I have been reading and studying the novel See Ya Simon

I found this novel sad but interesting because it was very 'moving' to read and I have never read anything like this so i'm glad I chose this book to read.

During the novel I had to complete a thinking map which shows that I can classify how the author has shown the theme of the book.

• Year 9/10 Standard

• I can locate, evaluate, analyse and summarise information and ideas within texts and across a range of texts.
• I have a large vocabulary that is connected to my own knowledge about the world and includes: - academic e.g observe vs watch - subject-specific (specific words about a subject (e.g feline) - technical terms (specialised vocabulary of a particular field.)

Overall I would give this novel a rating of  9 / 10 and I would recommend it to others to read if they like emotional stories like this because its a very good but heart-breaking story because its about this boy named Simon who suffers from Muscular Dystrophy and doesn't have long to live.

• Year 9/10: I can read in different ways to find and/or understand information that that is not immediately easy to access or is not organised in familiar ways.

Each week we have read a short text about a current event/ topic. We then formed questions based on what we had read.  After this we researched the answers to our questions and finally we gave our opinions on what we had found out.

Term 1 Book Review

                    The Impossible Clue

This book is about a young girl called Alice who is a big Maths-Whizz, and who loves to solve mysteries. One day, Alice was persuaded by her sidekick Sammy to solve the mystery of the scientists disappearance while creating a new experiment. They have claimed that when the scientist walked into his science lab, he never came out ever again. They had cameras in the room but showed no sign of the scientist disappearing. This was a true case to solve. Alice had found clues along the way and had to face hard challenges to do with codes. But it shouldn't be a problem for Alice, as she is one of the smartest in her class. Could she be able to find the scientist and solve this massive mystery of his disappearance?
